As the roofs of most houses contain a large amount of timber one of the problems that can occur is insect infestation it comes in many forms and can in some cases cause extensive damage to timbers.

Once any damage to timberwork has been rectified a stripped roof can be felted and battened in readiness for slate or tile & new lead work. Modern under tile/slate roofing felt is a used to allow the roof air circulation.
